OAKRIDGE, Ore.-- Community members in Oakridge express frustration after an investigation found the removal of the school superintendent Reta Doland not warranted.

"In one year, 20% of the staff retired or had to take a leave of absence and almost every single one of them said it was because of Ms. Doland," Oakridge High School parent Nicole Sulick said.

Sulick originally submitted a formal complaint to the Oakridge School Board against Doland last December.

An independent agency called RS2 Education Consulants reviewed the investigation and found the removal unwarranted. In February, Sulick submitted a 30-page rebuttal of the investigation's report to the school board but didn't hear back.

"The entire community and the teachers are coming together with a common message and we're not sure that they are listening," Sulick said.

According to a letter by the Oakridge Teacher's Association, 90 percent of teachers voted that they had no confidence in Doland's leadership.

Supporting documents state the reason for petitioning a removal of Doland include lack of communication, having a non-collaborative management style and failing to respond to emails in a timely manner.

Robin Tysoe is a fourth grade teacher at Oakridge Elementary School. She said she is disappointed with the school board's actions.

"We just didn't feel our voices being heard," Tysoe said. "They're supposed to be an independent body but they're not."

A school board meeting is set to take place at 6 p.m. on Monday night. Community members must sign up before noon to make public comment.

KEZI reached out to Reta Doland for comment but did not hear back.
