Officers catch burglar inside Boys & Girls Club, police say

The suspect was taken to the Coos County Jail.

COOS BAY, Ore. – A burglar was caught inside the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon on Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded to the facility at about 9:20 p.m. with help from other agencies.

After checking the perimeter, police said officers heard someone inside. They said the person was carrying stolen property from inside the building and trying to get it out through a basement door.

The suspect saw officers and ran inside, police said. The suspect was arrested when leaving the building through a door on the opposite side.

Courtney Mitchell, 41, of Riddle was taken to the Coos County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, second-degree criminal mischief, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and a parole violation.
