EUGENE, Ore. – Several officers and a deputy were injured in the arrest of a suspect linked to a stolen vehicle Monday morning, police said.

A Bureau of Lane Management deputy spotted a stolen Nissan Maxima near Dillard Road and Hidden Meadows Drive just after 8 a.m.

Eugene Police and Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene to assist with apprehending the suspect inside the vehicle.

The man, who police identified as 21-year-old Ethan Joule, reportedly tried to drive away, but authorities had the vehicle pinned in. That’s when police said Joule got out and ran into the woods.

He reportedly resisted arrest, and that combined with the icy and uneven terrain led to officers being injured while taking him into custody. None of the injuries were life threatening.

Police said charges are pending in the case.
