Officials investigate 'suspicious' Coos Bay house fire

The fire was located in an exterior shed attached to the south end of the home.

COOS BAY, Ore.-- Authorities are investigating a suspicious house fire that began early Sunday morning.

According to the Coos Bay Fire Department, first responders received reports of a fire at a vacant home the 300 block of South Wall Street early in the morning.

The fire was located in an exterior shed attached to the south end of the home, and was quickly put out, officials said. The fire was contained to the shed and did minimal damage to the home. 

Fire officials said they responded to the same home three weeks earlier for major fire resulting from faulty electrical equipment, killing the resident's dog and two birds.

Neither fire resulted in any injuries, officials said.

The cause of Sunday's fire is under investigation and considered suspicious, officials said.
