SWEET HOME, Ore.--A teenage passenger was killed in what is being investigated as an alcohol-related crash near Sweet Home early Saturday.
Linn County deputies say it happened on Crescent Hill Road near the intersection of Highway 228.
The crash was reported around 12:20 a.m.
Officials said the driver, a 17-year-male, was traveling downhill, northbound in a 1996 blue Ford Explorer when he lost control and ended up in the oncoming shoulder. He then overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to roll down an embankment around 85 feet from the roadway.
The passenger identified as Kolby Keenon, 18, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and ejected from the vehicle. Keenon was pronounced deceased on the scene by medics.
Officials said the driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to Lebanon Community Hospital for treatment.
