ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A man from Roseburg has died after a two-vehicle crash Friday evening.
Oregon State Police responded to Highway 138E near milepost 8 around 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash.
Preliminary investigation shows that a BMW coupe, driven by 62-year-old Eddie Gaylor from Roseburg, was headed eastbound on Highway 138E when Gaylor lost control of the car.
Gaylor ended up rear-ending a Ford pickup, driven by 73-year-old Allen Gilbert. The BMW spun out and hit a rock embankment on the westbound shoulder. The pickup rolled on impact and Gilbert was ejected from the vehicle.
Gilbert was pronounced dead on the scene. Gaylor was transported with critical injuries to Mercy Medical Center and later transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Investigators believe that neither Gaylor nor Gilbert were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
