GOSHEN, Ore.-- One person was taken to the hospital following a single vehicle crash on I-5 southbound near Goshen, Goshen Fire officials said.
Officials said the crash involved a single female occupant. They have identified her as Kerri Johnson, 66. Police said she sustained minor injuries.
According to police, she looked down at her phone to read a text message, drifted off the highway, and crashed into a guardrail. She then spun across the highway, and came to rest in the median shoulder, police said. There was about 50 feet of guardrail damage.
Johnson was issued a citation, police said.
This happened around 11:10 a.m. Saturday one mile north of the intersection of Highway 58.
According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, there was bumper to bumper traffic on I-5 south near the site of the crash after it occurred.
