One man killed in single-vehicle crash in Melrose

The 30-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

MELROSE, Ore. -- A Roseburg man is dead after a crash in Melrose early Tuesday morning. 

Shortly before 1 a.m., 911 dispatchers received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 1000 block of Melrose Road. The caller reported the vehicle had crashed head-on into a tree and a male occupant was unresponsive. 

When Douglas County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene they found a tan 1999 Chevy Suburban which had been traveling east and left the roadway for unknown reasons. 

The 30-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The victim's name is being withheld pending family notification. The Medical Examiner's Officer is trying to locate the family of the driver.
