JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - Ophelia's Place celebrated the opening of their brand new location in Junction City on Saturday, February 24.
Ophelia's Place is a prevention-based organization that offers services for girls ages 10-18. Their goal is to enpower, educate, and support young women as they grow up and deal with the variety of issues that come with adolescence.
Staff with the organization said it's so important for girls to have a space like this to take refuge and grow during this time in their lives.
"For so many things that are coming at girls during their adolescent years. They're internally changing, and externally, they're getting so many messages that many of us don't think are as healthy as they could be for so many of our daughters and girls in our lives," said Verna Wise Matthews, the Executive Director of Ophelia's Place.
Matthews said she's thankful to Junction City for inviting them to create a location there and helping them every step of the way. She wanted to especially thank the Soroptimist Club of Junction City, which she said played a huge part in making this opening possible.
The organization is orginally based in Eugene, but Matthews said they want to continue to spread their services far and wide. The next location they're looking at is Albany. They said that location is expected to open up later in 2018.
