EUGENE, Ore. -- Gov. Kate Brown announced Tuesday that 16 Oregon counties have improved their risk levels.
Lane County will move from extreme risk to high risk on Friday, which will allow businesses to reopen at 25 percent capacity. Linn County will move to moderate risk, which allows 50 percent capacity for indoor dining and limited seating for high school sports.
Douglas County went from high risk to extreme risk, which will force it gyms, entertainment centers and indoor dining at restaurants to close.
Benton and Coos Counties remain in the extreme risk category.
The complete list of county risk levels in Oregon can be found here. Starting Friday all but five counties will allow indoor dining in some capacity, among the other benefits of getting out of the extreme risk category.
County risk levels under the state's public health framework aim to reduce transmission and protect Oregonians from COVID-19. The framework uses four different risk levels for counties based on COVID-19 spread — extreme risk, high risk, moderate risk, and lower risk — and assigns health and safety measures for each level.
