VENTURA, Calif. -- The Oregon State's Fire Marshall Office said they have 15 Strike Teams in Southern California, all assigned to the Thomas Fire.

Battalion Chief Nick Tyler, with the Lebanon Fire District, is on the Strike Team out of Linn County. He said they could be there for two to three weeks, but they're hoping to be home by Christmas.

He says they've been dealing with fire behavior that you don't see in Oregon.

"That's the biggest thing, you hear about the Santa Ana’s and how the wind effects the fire and you hear about the low humidifies...coming down here and seeing it first hand and some of the extreme fire behavior was really eye opening," said Tyler.

The Oregon Department of Forestry also deployed 60 people and 25 engines to help with the California wildfires.
