Eugene, Ore. -- Oregon's explosion against Nevada on Saturday was a positive change of pace after some questions about the Ducks viability on the offensive end. Quarterback Justin Herbert threw for five touchdowns as everyone from Ryan Bay to offensive lineman Brady Aiello got in on catching passes.

One of the quietly impressive performances of the day was Daewood Davis, who moved from his summer position of defensive back to wide receiver to help shore up an incredibly depleted position group. In the game against Nevada, he put his work on the defensive side of the ball to practical use, catching 4 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown.

"I can recognize the coverages because I played DB and I know all the coverages," says Davis. "So that plays a big role in me doing really good at receiver. Just recognizing coverages and how dudes are gonna play me."

"The older you get in some of the systems and around football and around any of our jobs, you get more mature, and you focus on things that really matter," offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo continued. "The game slows down an he's a perfect example. Daewood's done an awesome job."

14 different Ducks caught 27 passes as Justin Herbert and his backup Tyler Shough combined for 402 yards and 7 touchdowns on 27-35 passing.

Oregon prepares for Montana in Autzen on Saturday.
