PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Health Authority reported almost 1,000 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.
This comes as cases continue to rise locally and across the state. Lane County is moving from lower risk to high risk on Friday due to the surge.
With 989 new confirmed and presumptive cases added today, the state total since the start of the pandemic is 177,134. There are also six more deaths, bringing the toll to 2,466.
The week of April 12 saw a 27% increase in cases from the previous week. It's the fourth consecutive week of cases increasing by more than 20%, OHA said.
Just as cases continue to rise, so do vaccinations against the coronavirus. The current average of doses being administered per day is nearly 34,000. More than 1.6 million Oregonians have had at least one dose.
