SALEM, Ore.-- The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department announced the closure of state parks will be extended beyond the original reopen date of May 8.

The department said they do not have a concrete date when parks will reopen for day use. However, camping and day-use reservations have been canceled from May 8 through May 25. Officials said people who have reservations beyond May 25 should plan for more cancellations.

Officials at the parks department said that any decision can be reversed or extended based on whether or not the public is following proper social distancing or if a city or county makes a request.
