EUGENE, Ore. – On Monday, the U.S. Department of Education approved a plan for Oregon that will bring millions of dollars to the state and inspire a new generation of innovators, problem solves and workforce-ready employees.

In 2019 in Oregon, nearly 52,000 high school students and almost 54,000 community college students used Career and Technical Education programs to gain skills necessary to succeed in high-wage, in-demand careers and grow Oregon’s economy.

With the $30 million, Oregon will build and strengthen statewide CTE programs, which will promote greater consistency in quality and spread it evenly across the state.

The state will also aim to get business and industry engaged in the development of those programs and encourage the use of shared resources.

As part of our Skilled to Work initiative, we partner with employers in our area to address the lack of workers for skilled jobs.
