EUGENE, Ore. -- The Eugene community partnered with a regional organization to host a swim clinic for blind athletes.
The event took place at the Sheldon Pool and Center.

The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) uses different sports to offer life-changing opportunities to its athletes. The goal of this event is to improve the quality of life of people of all ages and abilities within the Willamette valley, according to event organizers.

The athletes are paired with UO volunteers who guide them through the swim lessons.

Karissa is a participating athlete. She said she enjoys being part of the organization.

"The most fun about being part of this whole thing is being able to share my experience with other people and let them know that anything is possible if you have visual impairment," she said.

NWABA serves 1,500 kids, youth, adults and veterans who are visually impaired.
