EUGENE, Ore. -- If you've ever thought about a job in construction but you don't know how to start, here you go.

Build Oregon is the name of an initiative launched by the Associated General Contractors offering everything you need to know about apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeship programs and construction jobs. It's also looking to change attitudes toward skilled jobs.

On their website, you'll find information on dozens of jobs, everything from carpenters to mechanics to crane operators.

Aaron Bouchane of AGC says there's unlimited opportunities for skilled workers, and it's a great time for young people to get into the trades.

"These jobs pay incredibly well and they offer amazing benefits," said Bouchane. "They offer opportunities for advancement that aren't in other occupations."

According to the Build Oregon website, the average construction worker in Oregon makes $58,000 a year.

They are also forecasting a 17% job growth over the next 10 years.
