EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County’s largest health care provider is cutting ties with two insurers in 2020.

PeaceHealth will no longer be in-network for people who have Eugene-based Trillium or Tigard-based Health Net plans.

This could have huge implications for some local residents who need to see a doctor not only at PeacHealth's Hospitals, but its urgent care network as well. PeaceHealth patient and Health Net customer Gordon Larson says this comes as shock and wishes the news came from his health care provider first.

"I'm highly concerned that we didn't hear from our advantage care provider, health net, that this hospital was no longer going to be providing services and that PeaceHealth issued a letter during the re-enrollment period that listed only these particular agencies," Larson said.

According to the Oregonian/OregonLive, a federal judge is now ordering the two insurers to correct their websites, making it clear that PeaceHealth is no longer an in-network provider.

PeaceHealth had sued Trillium and Health Net, alleging the insurers engaged in false advertising after it didn't alert customers back in April the hospital planned to end its contract with the two companies.

The two were ordered on Monday to immediately correct their websites and alert consumers that their Medicare plans for 2020 will no longer include PeaceHealth.

Larson said this will be a significant inconvience for him and his wife.

"The biggest problem I have now with the letter we got from PeaceHealth is that we have a number of doctors for various conditions that I have that some only work at one hospital or the other," Larson said.

PeaceHealth released a statement to KEZI that said:

"PeaceHealth is committed to serving all members of the community, including patients with Medicare. It’s important to know that nothing changes today. PeaceHealth remains in-network with Centene’s Health Net and Trillium Medicare Advantage plans throughout 2019."
