EUGENE, Ore. – Ares is a playful German Shepard-mix who is looking for an active family to take him on daily walks and include him in many adventures.
This handsome boy is about 6 years old and full of energy. He loves to play with toys and fetch a ball. He has mastered basic obedience commands and is well-behaved when walking on a leash. He will thrive in a household where he will be the only pet as he settles in to his new home. He would do best in a home with teenagers and older family members due to handling sensitivity and enthusiasm for toys.
“Ares is so attentive and gentle, walks well on leash and aces his sits,” one volunteer said.
Ares weighs about 70 pounds and arrived at the shelter as a stray a month ago. He is part of the Subaru Loves Pets Month and will go to his new home with a New Parent Kit goodie bag. His adoption fee is $200, which will help pay for shelter expenses such as spaying and neutering, vaccinations, permanent microchip identification, a certificate for a free veterinary exam, post-adoption support and more.
Ares was Tuesday’s Pet of the Week on KEZI 9 News. Every Tuesday, KEZI showcases a homeless pet on the Midday newscast at 11 a.m. and again at 4 p.m.
