EUGENE, Ore. – Artemis and Apollo are pit bull terriers looking for a family who will take both of them home.

Apollo is blind and relies on his sister Artemis to help him navigate the world. The two are devoted to each other and must be adopted together. “They are very bonded and a joy to spend time with,” one shelter volunteer said. “Each is gentle, fun to walk together and calm.”

The dogs love getting attention and spending time together. Volunteers say they can do tricks guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

The pair could go to a family with older children and should likely be the only pets in the home. They were surrendered to Greenhill Humane Society when their previous owner could no longer care for them.

Each dog weighs about 50 pounds. A volunteer is sponsoring them, so their adoption fee is $100 for the two dogs. This includes the cost of vaccinations, microchip identification, spaying or neutering, a certificate for a free veterinary exam and more.

The dogs visited KEZI 9 News as Pet of the Week. Every Tuesday, KEZI showcases homeless pets on the Midday newscast at 11 a.m. If you are interested in learning more about Artemis and Apollo or the other animals at Greenhill Humane Society, click here.

Greenhill Humane Society is located at 88530 Green Hill Road and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Its phone number is 541-689-1503.

To ensure a good match is made, potential adopters must go to the animal shelter in person to meet with the animal and kennel staff. All family members should be present to ensure the animal is compatible with everyone in the household.
