When police and firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered that two people had been in the tent when the fire started, including a 76-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man. The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries caused by the fire.

Investigators determined that the fire was set intentionally by a man and a woman, who were seen yelling at the people in the tent and dousing it with a liquid before it burst into flames.

Police said detectives identified the suspects as Reyes and Smith. They were found in a motor home in the area of West 13th Avenue and Chambers Street. Police arrested both and took them to the Lane County Jail.
