Police dog Cwyk captures three suspects in 24 hours

A police dog helped capture three suspects in the span of 24 hours in Eugene.

EUGENE, Ore. – A police dog helped capture three suspects in the span of 24 hours in Eugene.

Police said in the third capture, police dog Cwyk responded to a dispute on Alder Street on Tuesday at about 9:15 p.m. A 31-year-old suspect ran out of a backyard. They said there was probably cause for an assault and menacing arrest.

Cwyk tracked the suspect, who refused officers’ commands and continued running, police said. Cwyk caught up to the suspect and held onto the man as officers took him into custody.

The other two captures took place at 1:15 a.m. and 12:37 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police congratulated Cwyk and his handler Officer Owen Griffith.
