Police dog, drone team help capture burglary suspect

Clarence Scharbrough, 43, of Eugene had outstanding felony warrants, and police said he will also be charged with first-degree burglary.

EUGENE, Ore. – Police responded to a burglary in progress at a Eugene home this afternoon.

Police said a neighbor saw a man breaking into a home in the 1700 block of West 18th Avenue.

When officers arrived at about 12:30 p.m., the suspect had run from the home. A perimeter was set up and a drone was deployed. Police dog Cwyk also arrived to assist.

Together, they found the suspect in a yard a block away from the burglary, police said. The suspect followed officer’s orders to get out of the shed he was in and he was taken into custody.

Clarence Scharbrough, 43, of Eugene had outstanding felony warrants, and police said he will also be charged with first-degree burglary.

Another man was contacted during the incident. Police said Dustin Lindsay, 46, of Eugene had unrelated federal warrants.
