COBURG, Ore. – The Coburg Police Department had a busy New Year’s Eve giving people who were drinking a free ride home.

Chief Larry Larson said they gave 12 different rides on Sunday night and Monday morning to 28 people between Coburg, Junction City, Eugene and Springfield.

The goal was to keep the roads safe from drunk drivers.

Larson said it was a positive experience for his officers and for passengers, and that they’ll probably do it again next year.
