EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene Police found the man who helped an officer save two people who overdosed on heroin last weekend.

Brian Bineham said he was driving along 13th Avenue early Sunday morning when he saw an officer performing CPR on a woman in the front yard of an abandoned home. He said the officer gave him a look that she needed help, so he pulled over. Bineham said the officer told him there was another man in the backyard in need. He performed CPR on the man for ten minutes before paramedics arrived.

Bineham said he owns a construction company, so he had the training to help save the man's life.

"Honestly, I just reacted,” said Bineham. “I saw somebody in need and reacted. We in the construction business take safety training. So I had the basic knowledge to perform CPR."

Bineham said a friend reached out to let police know he was the man who helped. Since then, he’s met that officer. He said she thanked him and told him the two people survived thanks in part to his heroic actions.

Bineham said he does not consider himself a hero and just wanted to help.
