Police investigating crash near Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Police say two people are in the hospital this after a two-vehicle crash in Springfield Friday.

Police say it happened around 7 p.m. on Marcola Road between 19th and 28th streets.

They say two cars were driving in their respective lanes when Nickolas Hannum crossed over into oncoming traffic directly at the other car involved.

Both Hannum and the other driver are in the hospital being treated for trauma.

The crash is being investigated by Springfield's Major Accident Investigation Team.

Police say they do not know what caused Hannum to drive into oncoming traffic.
