SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- After a woman was hit and killed in Springfield and one driver was identified, police said Tuesday they are looking for a second driver in the death.
Nevay Frymire, 58, died while crossing Main Street in Springfield Friday night. Police said Frymire was not in the crosswalk when she was hit.
While investigators identified Barbara Babbitt, 86, as one of the drivers involved, evidence indicates there was another vehicle involved. Neither driver stopped, police said. Babbitt was located following the incident and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police believe the unidentified driver may have been the first to hit Frymire. If you have any information, police ask that you call detectives at 541-726-3721. They are also looking for people with dash camera footage from Jan. 24 at about 6:23 p.m. or any footage along Main Street from 32nd to 69th streets.
Friend Lisa Taskey said Frymire was at her house on Friday when she walked to a liquor store across the street to buy alcohol for her roommate. On the way back, Frymire was hit.
Friend Shannon Young said she knew Frymire for 25 years and is asking for the unidentified driver to turn themselves in.
"I just wish the person would just come forward, we need to resolve this," Young said. "She was a good lady. She deserves to have this resolved."
