Police warn of cougar sightings in Sweet Home

A cougar with two baby cubs has been seen by several people in the north side of town.

SWEET HOME, Ore. – Police are warning Sweet Home residents about cougar sightings in the area.

Officers are hanging fliers in the area of North 12th Avenue where a cougar with two baby cubs has been seen by several people.

This area is in the north side of town from Main to Tamarack streets and between 9th and 18th avenues.

A town hall meeting to talk about managing the cougar population near town was held Thursday evening with State Rep. Sherrie Sprenger at the Jim Riggs Community Center.

Anyone who sees a cougar in the area is asked to call Sweet Home police at 541-367-5181.
