EUGENE, Ore. -- A protest and march is planned this Sunday in response to the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police.

Protest organizers said there will be speeches from the President of the NAACP, a state representative, as well as Eugene Police Chief Chris Skinner.

Madeleine Smith, the co-organizer of the protest, said Sunday is more than just a day to voice concerns about police brutality but a bigger issue: systemic racism.

“It sometimes make me feel a little bit hateful and I realize all emotions need to be expressed,” Smith said. “But I also realize change can’t be expressed through hatred.”
