SALEM, Ore. -- A drive-by rally at the Oregon State Capitol is calling for Gov. Kate Brown to lift the state of emergency and end the stay-at-home order.
During the rally, cars circled the statehouse and honked their horns. Many people also waived signs and American flags from their cars.

Nicole, a Springfield stay-at-home mom, organized the rally. She didn't want to give her last name out of fear of retaliation. She wants lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to come up with an exit strategy to reopen the state.

"A government that is given excess power by the people will ultimately use that power against the people," Nicole said. "There is a word for that -- it's called tyranny."
Over 100 people said on Facebook that they planned to attend the rally. One man who drove up from Grants Pass said Josephine County should reopen because only 19 cases and one death have been reported so far.

Ray Odgen from Salem attended the rally. He said the restrictions that have changed our daily lives trample on our constitutional rights.
"This is just a takeover, it's just just take down," Ogden said. "None of what Governor Brown or any of these governors or mayors are doing that are so restrictive is constitutional."
A similar rally is set to happen on May 2 at noon.
