Red Cross needs help assembling comfort kits for veterans

The Red Cross is looking into making comfort kits for veterans but they need help. They are in need of supplies and volunteers to assembe the kits.

EUGENE, Ore. -- The American Red Cross is looking to give back to the armed forces and they need help.

The Red Cross is making comfort kits for veterans and veteran hospitals. They are taking donations through November 8. They also need help putting the kits together.

Supplies needed include:

  1. toothbrushes
  2. toothpaste
  3. deodorant
  4. first aid kits
  5. hand sanitizer
  6. soap
  7. shampoo
  8. conditioner
  9. bandages
  10. antibiotic ointment
  11. lip balm
  12. antacids
  13. nail clippers
  14. socks
  15. hairbrushes/combs
  16. knit hats
  17. gloves
  18. hand warmers
  19. grocery gift cards
  20. washcloths

People can donate supplies at the Red Cross on Broadway, Chambers Construction, Ninkasi, Peacehealth University District in Eugene and Peacehealth Riverbend in Springfield.

Volunteers can help assemble the kits at the Red Cross office at 11 a.m. on November 10.
