SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Some residents will be allowed past road closures on Highway 126 starting Friday, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

A pilot car will guide caravans through the road closure zone – milepost 27.55 to 38.

The first was set to leave from the west end, two miles east of Vida, at 1 p.m.

Caravans will travel in one direction at a time. Additional guided trips are set for Saturday and Sunday.

The road remains closed to non-fire, non-resident travelers.
