EUGENE, Ore. – A road rage incident on Monday resulted in one of the drivers being stabbed and the other being arrested for assault, police said.
It started at about 7:20 p.m. in the 3100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Eugene. Witnesses said they saw a driver heading south on Delta Highway near Valley River Center with a white Ford pickup truck following close behind.
The truck was said to be traveling erratically before it drove in front of the other vehicle and came to an abrupt stop near Kinsrow Avenue.
Police said the pickup truck’s driver, Roy Allan Fani, 30, got out of the truck and approached the driver of the other vehicle. Fani allegedly hit the driver several times with his fist and also stabbed him. The victim was taken to the hospital by medics with a laceration on his hand.
Authorities received a description of the suspect and his vehicle, and they contacted Fani at his attorney’s office on Wednesday. Fani was arrested and taken to Lane County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
