COOS BAY, Ore. -- A Coos Bay man allegedly broke into a home and was chased off by the homeowners before breaking into a nearby vehicle, the Coos County Sheriff's Office says.
It happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday on Stadden Lane.
Deputies said Andrew Martin, 35, was confronted by the vehicle's owner, who followed the man as he ran away.
Upon arriving, the victim pointed out the suspect, and deputies tried to stop him. Martin reportedly ran onto Highway 101 and was almost hit by a vehicle.
Deputies said Martin was taken into custody, and they then learned about the home break-in.
Martin was taken to Coos County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary, menacing, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, second-degree criminal trespass, and third-degree escape.
