NEWPORT, Ore. -- A distillery on the Oregon coast has started producing hand sanitizer to donate to local emergency responders and public safety officials.

Rogue Ales & Spirits started producing helping hand hand sanitizer after the Food and Drug Administration changed their guidelines to give distilleries permission to start making hand sanitizer for distribution as long as they were abiding by the formula outlined by the World Health Organization.

The hand sanitizer is made with 80% ethanol, glycerin, hydrogen peroxide and distilled water and packaged in 375 ml, 4 oz and 16 oz bottles.

Fire departments and ambulance services in Newport, Toledo, Waldport, Yachats, Depoe Bay, and Lincoln City have benefited from the donations so far.
