ROSEBURG, Ore.-- Roseburg High School has found a way to honor their graduating seniors despite the coronavirus pandemic.
District staff said the ceremony will be held virtually on June 6 at 11 a.m.
Commencement speakers will pre-record their speeches before the ceremony. Then, each student’s name will be called and there will be a video of family members giving their student their diploma.
Although she is disappointed, one parent said she’s glad the school is making an effort to honor their seniors.
“I think it’s awesome that Roseburg High School -- that they’re doing their best to make it special," said Robyn Anderson. “I think it’s awesome because it shows how much they love our kids.”
The ceremony will be followed by a drive-by parade in the high school’s parking lot.
With social distancing in mind, staff will line up around the school and greet students and their families as they drive through.
