ROSEBURG, Ore. — Roseburg Public Schools will be giving free lunches to kids during winter break.
The Lunchbox Express drives around to four different locations throughout Roseburg to feed children in need.
Staff said some of their students rely on their lunch meal during the school day because their families may not be able to afford all three daily meals.
However, they said anyone can get a meal, regardless of their financial situation.
The free lunches are served at parks and when the weather is cold, less students make the journey to get a meal. But staff said their glad students rely on them during the holiday season.
“It makes me feel better, you know holiday spirit and all,” said Barbra Grant, one of the servers on the Lunchbox Express. “They can at least have food and not have to worry too much about the expense of feeding when they have all the other expenses going on.”
Students can grab a meal every day throughout break except Christmas day, the day after Christmas, New Years day, and the weekends.
Lunch is available at Saddle Butte Mobile Manor from 11 a.m.-11:15 a.m., Eastwood Park from 11:25 a.m.-11:40 a.m., Stewart Park from 12 p.m.-12:30 p.m., and Green Elementary School from 12:45 p.m.- 1 p.m.
