ROSEBURG, Ore. – A school bus driver in Roseburg is accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

Lawrence Jackson, 62, of Roseburg was arrested following a weeks-long investigation. He faces charges of first-degree sodomy and five counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Roseburg Public Schools issued a statement that the district and bus service First Student will work with police to assist with the investigation. The district said they couldn’t comment on Jackson’s current employment status but said he will no longer be driving Roseburg students.

The alleged crimes took place in Roseburg in 2016, police said. The investigation began after the alleged victim, who was a girl under the age of 14, reported the previous abuse to law enforcement in another state.

Jackson was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
