Roseburg woman sets home on fire, hits deputy, authorities say

The suspect was arrested at the scene of the fire.

SUTHERLIN, Ore. – A Roseburg woman is accused of setting a home on fire in Sutherlin on Monday.

Douglas County deputies responded to a home in the 400 block of Northside Road at about 12:40 p.m.

They said they saw a woman running from the home with a lighter in her hand, and they chased after her.

During the following struggle, Diane Morey, 37, hit a deputy, authorities said.

She was taken into custody and transported to Mercy Medical Center for evaluation before being lodged in the jail.

Morey faces charges of first-degree arson, resisting arrest and harassment.

Oregon State Police Arson Investigators, Sutherlin police and the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted. Oakland Fire and Fair Oaks Fire also responded to the scene.
