DEVIL'S KNOB COMPLEX: Evacuations, containment and more

The nearby Skyline Ridge Complex is fully contained.

CANYONVILLE, Ore. -- The Devil's Knob Complex sparked up east of Canyonville after lightning strikes hit the area in early August.

Altogether, the fires have burned an estimated 70,109 acres as of Monday. They are 58% contained.

The two largest fires in the complex are the Smith Fire and Big Hamlin Fire. The former is just over 49,200 acres and 42% contained and the latter is 19,377 acres and 100% contained. Crews have also contained the smaller Dismal Creek, Little Applegate, Mule Creek, Section 30, and Wildcat fires. Firefighters are continuing to patrol these areas.

Meanwhile, the Skyline Ridge Complex, which is burning just west of the other complex, is fully contained.

In 2019, the Milepost 97 Fire raged south of Canyonville along Interstate 5. It was declared fully contained Aug. 16, 2019.
