Son accused of assaulting mother in Douglas County

Deputies said when they arrived, they found the woman suffering from injuries and transported her by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- A woman is recovering after she was allegedly held against her will and assaulted by her son on Wednesday.

Douglas County deputies said they were dispatched to a home on Old County Lane Wednesday following reports that a woman, 83-year-old Twila Dunsmore, needed medical attention.

Deputies said when they arrived, they found Dunsmore suffering from injuries and transported her by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators said Dunsmore had been held against her will and attacked throughout the night by her son Clay Dunsmore, 58.

Clay was arrested and taken to the Douglas County Jail for kidnapping, assault and menacing charges.
