EUGENE, Ore. -- Following a days-long search, a man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a burglary at a home in southwest Eugene in August, police said.
SWAT assisted in the arrest of Jason Dean Brooks, 35, of Eugene after 5 p.m. Nov. 20.
Police said an Oregon State Police trooper stopped a vehicle in Newport over the weekend, and Brooks fled.
During the search for Brooks, detectives contacted local hotels and found Brooks on the ninth floor of the Eugene Hilton.
When officials contacted Brooks, he tried to flee using a fire escape but was taken into custody by SWAT.
Brooks was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree aggravated theft and felon in possession of a firearm.
Another suspect in the burglary case, Anthony McThrow, was arrested Sept. 12 and charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree aggravated theft.
Police said the burglary on Aug. 27 was extensive, and the home had been ransacked. A storage safe was taken, along with firearms, jewelry and a large amount of cash from a legitimate business.
