FLORENCE, Ore. – A Lane County man who was missing after being dropped off at a casino has been found safe in the Florence area, the Lane County Sheriff's Office says.

Hammond West, 65, was found after community members who saw him reached out to authorities.

On Jan. 31, West was reported missing by a caregiver after not returning to his home southeast of Goshen. He had gone on a walk to the market on Highway 58.

Investigation revealed West asked for a ride from a community member to Klamath Falls, but when he learned the person was headed to the Florence area, he reportedly agreed to be taken there.

West was dropped off in the parking lot at Three Rivers Casino at about 7:30 p.m.
