LAKE ANN, Ore. – A hiker missing since Wednesday near Lake Ann has been found safe and in good condition, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said.
The search and rescue team that found the man had a doctor and nurse among the searchers who were immediately able to assess his condition.
More than 60 searchers, along with track and trail dog teams, were in the third day of the search on Friday. The search was focused on an area off of the Marion Lake Trailhead in Linn County
Lt. Michelle Duncan of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said the first call about the missing hiker came into their office Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., and crews responded immediately. The hiker was found late Friday morning.
“With amazing teamwork, planning and communication, we are pleased to announce that the subject has been located safe and in good condition,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The Linn County Amateur Radio Team helped the search effort by providing critical radio-relay support to field teams and SAR Base of Operations, the sheriff’s office said
Search and rescue teams from Linn, Benton, Lane, Marion and Deschutes counties all participated in the search.
Air assets from the Oregon National Guard were also helping and a flight team from Benton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with its drone. Riders from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse also helped in the search.
