Second Eugene police car involved in crash Thursday

Police say the officer was heading to a report of a possible child abduction when the crash happened.

EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene police car was involved in a crash as an officer was heading to a report of a possible child abduction, according to police.

This was the second crash involving a Eugene police car on Thursday, after two officers were hurt after being hit by a driver being investigated for driving under the influence.

The second crash happened just before 4 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Club Road in Eugene.

Police said the patrol car was hit when the officer was driving to Willamette Family Services in emergency mode.

Officers said no one was hurt and no one has been charged, but they are still investigating.

Police said the child at Willamette Family Services was not abducted, and they located the child and spoke to those involved. Police are still investigating that situation.
