VENETA, Ore. – Officials have released some of the names involved in a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 126 near Huston Road, 2 miles east of Veneta.
Amado Hernandez-Vernegas and his passenger sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased. Police say the passenger's name will be released when appropriate.
Police say a Chevrolet Equinox, operated by Kathleen Bauchereau, 59, of Veneta, was northbound on Huston Rd. when it failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 126W and Huston Rd. The Equinox entered Hwy 126W and struck an eastbound Ford F-150 pulling a utility trailer, operated by Hernandez-Vernegas, 49, of Veneta.
The impact forced the Ford F-150 into the westbound lane where it collided with a Chevrolet Suburban pulling an RV trailer, operated by Randy Holcomb, 52, of Eugene.
Bauchereau was transported to RiverBend Hospital with injuries. Holcomb and the juvenile passenger were also transported to RiverBend with injuries.
All lanes of Highway 126 were closed, causing lengthy delays. The road was back open by about 2 p.m.
