Sheriff's office identifies man found dead in Willamette River

Officials responded for a water rescue after receiving reports a man jumped off the Owosso Bridge on Aug. 10.

EUGENE, Ore. – The Lane County Sheriff's Office has identified the body found in the Willamette River on Aug. 10.

Sgt. Carrie Carver said the man was Lonnie Hall, 69, of Gresham.

Officials responded for a water rescue after receiving reports a man jumped off the Owosso Bridge. The body was found hours later downstream from the bridge.

The cause of death has been determined to be drowning. It has been ruled a suicide.

The man's family has been notified.
