Siuslaw National Forest campgrounds and day use sites close

The closures were deemed necessary to support social distancing guidelines.

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- On Monday, the Forest Service announced a temporary closure of all Siuslaw National Forest campgrounds and day use areas.

The Forest Service said the temporary closure will go through May 8.

The Forest Service had previously announced the closure of certain campgrounds and the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center through April 14 due coronavirus concerns.

Day use areas include trailheads, visitor centers, viewpoints, boat launches, and picnic areas.

The latest updates on the closures will be posted online.
