EUGENE, Ore. -- Churchill High School students are getting a leg-up through a two-year civil engineering and architecture course.

Students use industry-standard computer software, measuring tools, cement and drywall to create scale models of buildings.

The sheds the students are working on include al the same components and use the same techniques as the construction trades.

Students said the course provides a great atmosphere for their skills.

“I would definitely give it a try,” junior Alle Banna said. “It’s a lot funner once you get going. He teaches you a lot in the beginning, and it’s a lot of quizzes, but once you get through that, the work is really fun and seeing your project grow is fun.

The course challenges students to pay attention to details and be precise in their work.

When they’ve completed the two-year course, they will gain eight college credits for their future education.
