Smoke alarm recall

The Albany Fire Department announced a recall on the Kidde dual-sensor smoke alarms. The same alarm they install in homes.

Albany, Ore. - The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling the Kidde dual-sensor (photoelectric and ionization) smoke alarms. The Albany Fire Department said this is the same alarm they install in homes.

The recall affects Kidde model PI9010.

Firefighters said any residents who received a smoke alarm from the Albany Fire Department between September 2016 and January 2018 should remove smoke alarm.

They said to look for a yellow cap that was left on during the manufacturing process. Officials said these yellow caps can cover one of two smoke sensors and compromise the smoke alarm's ability to detect smoke.

If you find a yellow cap or you are unable to check your smoke alarm, call the Fire Department at 541-917-7700 and staff will come to your home, check the alarms, and replace them.
